You have to stand outside most of the day to sample candies to attract customers. It quickly died down and everything began going wrong. The energy in the store and the co-workers were amazing. The work environment was great in the beginning. Let's not start with about how bad the paycheck was and how hypocritical and fake some of the employees were there. It was like she was contradicting herself on purpose just to cause drama. She has even come up to me while I was with customers just to say that I was not standing a certain way or position after she had told me to stay at that same position or section and(not to move). If the manager figures out you are not making that goal she will embarrass you. If you do not reach a specific goal they will start to give you less hours. If you are working part time they will under pay you. They would give you dirty looks and talk behind your back.Overall it was a poisonous environment.The pay was horrible. It was just catty and gossipy all the time. There was this overwhelming dread of me going into work every everyday.They would preach this positivity of helping eachother out and that we were all friends but it was anything but. The management was horrible.Managers /Assistant managers and supervisors would target you if you did not reach a certain goal.They would make you feel so uncomfortable to a point where you just felt like you needed to quit. Probably one of the worst experiences I have ever had at a store.
SQUISH CANDY MODS
Schedule was very inconsistent - time off requests were denied constantly, we would be short-staffed because shifts would get cancelled without notice (even the other MODs were not notified), unfinished drafts of the schedule would go out - but somehow it was still the fault of the employees for not - more. Management played mind games, reprimanded us for trivial things and treated the team as disposable even though they were breaking company sales records. MODs who tried to be positive and supportive were treated as threats. People were burned out and stressed because they were cut off from their social life or did not have time to study.Įmployees would be singled out if they did not perform tasks in a specific way or have good enough sales numbers. Same employees always worked the busy shifts because managers wanted weekends off - I have no idea why that was allowed of retail managers - made me think they really did not understand or care about their own business. My store manager would spend a lot of time out of store on administrative tasks and conference calls with head office then call it a day, had little experience in their own store. At least head office had our back when we had questions or issues. Our location had very high sales, which our manager would take credit for when it was assistant management and key holders actually running the floor during busy times like evenings or weekends. I delivered results in my store but had to sacrifice my mental health with little thanks.
